Main Assumptions:
Access to clean and fresh water has a direct impact on people’s cultural and social life. In the past, the transmission of water through aqueducts directly influenced social life at the time. This prevented many epidemic diseases, increased agricultural production, and fostered economic prosperity.
In this context, students who will research the construction, structure, and architecture of aqueducts within the project will enhance their engineering and design skills through modelling and prototyping aqueducts in their regions. They will apply both technological and mathematical skills using various calculations in mathematics and physics, such as slope, symmetry, water flow intensity, etc. In this way, they will design more livable and sustainable cities of the future. They will draw inspiration from these ancient structures and learn about their historical heritage.
The objectives of the project are as follows:
- Discovering the impact of environmental, geographical, historical, economic, cultural, and digital factors on people, and increasing participants’ knowledge about sustainable development.
- Informing participants about the history and geographical location of aqueducts.
- Educating participants about water conservation.
- Raising participants’ awareness of waterways from the past to the present.
Project Priorities: School Education
- Promoting excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and the STEAM approach.
- Developing basic competences.
- Supporting innovators in schools.
- Green skills, planning, and implementing digital transformation.
- STEAM.
Students will design aqueducts and use STEM by printing them with a 3D printer. They will create animations, e-books, and posters. Through these activities, they will improve their digital, technological, and artistic skills. They will learn about water-related goals and sustainable development, as well as how to save water. Therefore, the project will address the effective use of water resources along with cultural and historical contexts, the STEAM approach, and a focus on green skills.
Project Outputs:
- An exhibition of water- and aqueduct-related paintings, digital maps, short films, and animations.
- Short documentaries on waterways using Green Screen technology.
- A theatre play on the topic of endangered marine life.
- Marbling art workshops (water-based art).
- 3D modelling of aqueducts.
- Digital publications.
Expected Project Results:
- Participants will learn about the history, location, and function of aqueducts in everyday life.
- Participants will understand the value of water both in human life and in global society.
- Participants’ skills in digital media (such as digital publications and animations) will increase.
- Participants will gain a full understanding of Sustainable Development.
Planned Activities:
1st students and teachers mobility „STEAM” – Turkey
2nd students and teachers mobility „Sustainable Development” – Poland
